Not every meal in King's Cross is a table for four. Plenty of our guests walk in alone: on a work trip, between trains, or simply because they fancy pasta and a glass of wine without waiting for company. We are a family-run Italian cafe, bar and restaurant at 4 Medway Court on Judd Street, and solo diners are as welcome here as the big groups. Here is how we look after you when you come on your own.
Nick came in alone on a business trip and wrote afterwards: Had dinner by myself here when I was on a businesstrip.
What stuck with him was not only the food: The owner is serving with a big smile. The chef checked how the food was.
(Nick v. H., Google review). That is the tone we aim for: warm, attentive, never awkward. You will not be parked in a corner and forgotten, and you will not be rushed if you want to linger over coffee.
Others notice the room itself. Maria described us as spacious, music not too loud, decor is not over the top, the friendliest of staff and fresh, quality food and excellent coffee.
(Maria M., Google review). It is an easy place to sit with a book, catch up on emails over a flat white, or simply eat in peace after a long day of meetings.
Nasipa captured the service style many solo guests prefer: The service was warm and helpful without being intrusive.
(Nasipa E., Google review). Ask for recommendations, or order without small talk. Both are fine.
Breakfast and brunch run from 8am until 2pm every day, so a solo morning is simple. Try eggs Benedict (Ham, Florentine or Royale), scrambled eggs with smoked salmon, the Fiena English breakfast, poached eggs on avocado with dukkah, or a granola bowl with Greek yoghurt and seasonal fruit. Pair it with an Italian coffee: espresso, cortado, flat white, or something from the latte list. Loredana summed up her visits: The coffee is excellent, the staff are friendly and professional
(Loredana S., Google review).
From midday the main menu opens up. A single portion of Linguine Fiena, carbonara, seafood linguine or spaghetti bolognese is a complete meal on its own. If you want two courses without over-ordering, start with arancini, bruschetta or garlic bread, then a Margherita or Diavola pizza. Gluten-free penne and a gluten-free pizza base are available if you need them.
“The Linguini Fiena was honestly one of the best pasta dishes I've ever had.”
Robin W., Google review, February 2026
Neil kept a quick lunch brief: Food was great, arrived quick, service was lovely.
(Neil C., Google review). Speed matters when you are alone between meetings or trains. James kept dinner simple too: I had pasta fiena and the cheesecake. Both very good.
(James S., Google review).
If the dining room is busy, ask for a seat at the bar. The green marble counter is a comfortable perch for a Hugo or Aperol spritz, a Negroni, or an espresso martini from our drinks list. Kiley's tip still stands: I'd also recommend sitting outside and enjoying a cocktail here.
She added that Jan makes the best hugo spritz's.
(Kiley R., Google review).
We are a few minutes' walk from King's Cross St Pancras and not far from Euston, which is why guests often find us between platforms. Celia called us A hidden gem not far from Kings Cross or Euston
(Celia F., Google review), and Anastasia came Straight from Kings Cross to this cozy warm food in December, exactly what was needed
(Anastasia B., Google review).
Come as you are. Whether it is a business-trip carbonara, a solo brunch before the British Library, or a spritz before your train, we will look after you. Book a table at Fiena, glance at the menu, or simply wander in. You will find us at 4 Medway Court, Judd Street, London WC1H 9QX.
Breakfast from 8am, the full Italian menu from midday. Walk-ins are always welcome whenever we have space.
